The DIL/NetPC ADNP/1520 is a upgrade to the ADNP/1486 and DNP/1486. This DIL/NetPC offers a footprint of the ADNP/1486 128-pin QIL (Quad-In-Line) socket with 2.54mm centers. The inner 64 pins are compatible to the DIL/NetPC DNP/1486. The outer 64 pins offers a 16-bit ISA expansion bus. The DIL/NetPC ADNP/1520 was developed specifically for products that need to be connected to TCP/IP-based Bluetooth, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet or 802.11 WLAN networks with minimum development costs. The ADNP/1520 is a ready-to-run embedded networking system. The use of the ADNP/1520 will allow you to realize a substantial time and costs savings over other chip-based approaches. Currently, there is no other TCP/IP-based Bluetooth, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet or 802.11 WLAN embedded networking solution with more development time savings on the market. There is also no faster Time-to-Market for your product with lower costs if Bluetooth, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, 802.11 WLAN, full TCP/IP and an embedded Web server or other TCP/IP-based server software is required. To interface the ADNP/1520 with existing devices and equipment, the ADNP/1520 offers two asynchronous serial RS232C interfaces with TTL levels (COM1 - 16550 compatible with all handshake signals, COM2 - 16550 compatible with TxD and RxD only), 20-bit general purpose parallel I/Os (driven by a in-system programmable high density PLD, the parallel I/O function is VHDL-based) and a 16-bit ISA extension bus with programmable interrupt inputs and programmable chip select outputs. There are two ways for ADNP/1520 integration: 1.) Adapt the ADNP/1520 to your existing product. Use the existing I/Os (or change the VHDL model of the high density PLD to a full custom I/O solution) within your product to communicate with the ADNP/1520. 2.) Use the ADNP/1520 to control and monitor the hardware of your existing product. This might enable you to replace your existing controller entirely. In a new product design, the ADNP/1520 can be the main controller. Additional I/Os or memory-based interfaces are driven by the 16-bit ISA extension bus. The on-board FLASH memory provides storage for the ADNP/1520 operating system with TCP/IP stack, Bluetooth, Ethernet, WLAN drivers and embedded web server as well as OEM applications and data. The FLASH memory is in-system programmable over JTAG, serial and the 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interface. The boot block of the FLASH memory is only in-system programmable over the JTAG interface through a special cable attached to a PC parallel port. For all other FLASH blocks, you can use also a high-speed serial connection through the ADNP/1520 COM1 port or the 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interface for in-system programming. The ADNP/1520 in-system programming was developed for OEM application software, operating system downloads (i.e. upgrade from DOS to embedded Linux) and data download and to make it easier to update the on-board FLASH content in the field. DIL/NetPC ADNP/1520-3V: Key Features
DIL/NetPC ADNP/1520-3V: Description The DIL/NetPC ADNP/1520-3V is build around the AMD 32-bit SC520 low power IA-32 586 CPU with 133 MHz clock speed. The AMD SC520 provides a 32-bit AM586 CPU with hardware FPU (Floating Point Unit) support and a complete set of PC/AT-compatible peripherals, along with the power management features required for low-power operation and a ISA bus interface for external ISA peripherals. The SC520 also provides all of the support functions found in the original IBM PC/AT. The SC520 microcontroller use the industry-standard 486/586 instruction set. All software and embedded operating systems written for the IA-32 (x86) architecture family is compatible with the SC520 and the ADNP/1520-3V. The external main components around the AMD Elan SC520 32-bit microcontroller on the ADNP/1520-3V are one FLASH chip with 16 MBytes for the operating system and OEM applications, two 32 MByte SDRAM chips (total DRAM size is 64 MByte) and one 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN controller with 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX interface. The SDRAM access and the refresh operation is driven by the SC520 integrated SDRAM controller. The SC520 interface to the 10/100 Mbps Ethernet controller is based on the SC520 ISA bus interface. The 10/100 Mbps Ethernet controller is a external ISA peripheral in the SC520 ISA address space. The ADNP/1520-3V also offers a full featured IDE interface for CompactFlash devices or other standard IDE devices. The chip selects for this interface are driven by the CPLD. The ADNP/1520-3V 10/100 Mbps Ethernet controller is a SMSC LAN91C111 single chip MAC+PHY. This highly-integrated Ethernet LAN controller includes 8 KByte internal memory for receive and transmit FIFO buffers, a IEEE 802.3/802.3u Ethernet MAC engine, and internal 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX transmit and receive filters. The SMSC LAN91C111 supports full-duplex switched Ethernet operation and auto negotiation for 10 and 100 Mbps. For the ADNP/1520 LAN integration, the PHY interface needs only a external low-cost isolation transformer. The mechanical interface between the DIL/NetPC and existing devices and equipment is a 128-pin QIL connector with 2.54mm centers. This allows the direct integration to a 128-pin QIL socket. The inner 64 pins are compatible to the DIL/NetPC DNP/1520. The outer 64 pins offers a 16-bit ISA expansion bus. DIL/NetPC ADNP/1520-3V: Ordering Information The DIL/NetPC ADNP/1520-3V provides the dimensions of a 128-pin QIL socket and will be delivered with a preinstalled Datalight ROM-DOS 6.22, Datalight´s FLASH File System FlashFX, Datalight´s TCP/IP stack with a powerful API and a Web server for embedded networking applications. A DOS FTP server and an Email Alerter are optionaly available. There is also a preinstalled embedded Linux (kernel version 2.4) operating system with full TCP/IP, thttpd embedded Web server, FTP server, Telnet server and JFFS (Journaling Flash File System) support available. The module is based on a 32-bit AMD Low Power 586 SX processor with a complete embedded PC/AT-architecture (AMD Elan SC520). This processor runs with 133 MHz clock. There are 64 MByte SDRAM and 16 MByte FLASH memory on-board. Two serial interfaces (COM1 - 16550 compatible with all handshake signals, COM2 - 16550 compatible with TxD and RxD only), 20 digital I/Os (driven by a in-system programmable high density PLD, the parallel I/O function is VHDL-based) and one ISA expansion bus with programmable chip select signals and interrupt inputs offers the interface to higher level systems and devices by using the 128-pin QIL interface with 2.54mm centers. The network interface is made by a 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interface with embedded RAM for packet buffering and support for full-duplex operation. As development support we offer starterkits with various DOS libraries which can be integrated in the Borland C/C++ development environment to build own TCP/IP-based embedded networking applications. For Linux developers we offer support and documentation, which can be used together with the GNU tool chain.
